Company hopes to hire 700 in Polk

Welldyne, a new pharmaceutical company that just opened its doors right off Interstate 4 in Lakeland, is looking for 700 new employees.

The company needs call center representatives, office workers, IT experts, and pharmacists. Salaries range from $30,000 to $100,000.

"It's a big deal to Lakeland, and a big deal to Polk County," said Bill Mutz, of the Lakeland Economic Development Council.

Development officials hope that Welldyne settling here encourages other high tech, well-paying
companies to follow suit and open up their doors in Polk as well.

Welldyne considered locations all along the country's east coast, and finally settled on Polk County. Polk is close to airports in Orlando and Tampa and home to the proposed USF Polytechnic, which will prepare students for high-tech jobs.
