L;AKELAND - First came the atheists with their anti-God messages on billboards in Lakeland’now there are believers who say God is part of the fabric of America, and they are fighting back with their own billboards.

A dozen Christian churches in Polk County have just joined forces, trying to counterbalance the aethists of Florida.

Back in the day, it was the Christians versus the lions, but now, a new kind of battle is shaping up in Polk County. It pits the Christians against the Atheists of Florida.

This week, the Christians just counter-attacked. They put up a sign on State Road 98 North. Another four will pop up at some of Lakeland's busiest intersections over the next week.

The signs say, "1 Nation under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance.

"It's time for Christians to stand up, to stand firm on this belief in God," James Houston told FOX 13.

Houston and a buddy convinced a dozen Lakeland area Christian churches to take action to counterbalance signs that the atheists have put up around town.

The atheists signs say, "One nation indivisible," conspicuously leaving God out.

The churches are also selling yard signs, decals and t-shirts with their logo and "1 Nation under God."
