LAKELAND - A Lakeland couple has been charged with starving their infant daughter to death after she was found lifeless in their home.
Polk County Sheriff's Office deputies discovered the 5-month-old girl in the family's Lakeland home Sunday morning after responding to a call of an unresponsive child.
Sheriff Grady Judd says the child weighed just six pounds, and that deputies found more beer than food supplements for the baby in the couple's home.
Deputies believe the child, Chauntasia Gardner, was starved to death when her formula was watered down.
Five other children in the home were healthy and nourished.
Chauncey Gardner and Tivasha Logan have been charged with murder and aggravated child abuse.
Both are being held without bond.
