LAKELAND - Bradley is one heck of a fundraiser. Last year at a dinner, he brought in $30,000 for the SPCA of Polk County, in just one night. Not bad for a 3-year-old.
You see, Bradley is a dachshund mix. But not just any dog. People who know him say he has a special something, a spirit that just won't quit.
"He doesn't even know that he has a handicap," the SPCA's executive director, Warren Cox, told FOX 13. "For him, he just does it."
After Bradley was hit by a car, he became crippled. His two back
legs are now useless. He pulls
himself around with his front feet, and drags the two injured
ones behind. When he goes outside, he uses a wheelchair to get
around.
Last year, a local family adopted him. They intended to keep him, but the economy went south, and the bottom fell out of their finances. When the mom lost her job, their house went into foreclosure.
Now they're moving into an apartment. Heartbroken, they returned Bradley to the SPCA.
Now the
SPCA is
hoping to find another family to take him in and give a new home,
this time, hopefully forever.
