HazMat investigation at Clearwater courthouse

CLEARWATER - A suspicious powdery substance sent emergency crews to the Criminal Courts Complex this afternoon.

According to deputies, a letter addressed to the State Attorney's Office that arrived via the U.S. Postal Service was opened earlier today and found to contain a white powdery substance.

The sheriff's office responded, along with the Pinellas Park Fire Department and Pinellas County HazMat.

No evacuations have been ordered while the substance is being analyzed.
