PASADENA - Detectives say a case of road rage spilled over into the parking lot of a hospital, where an elderly man was forced to open fire in self-defense.
According to investigators, a Hyundai driven by Nathan Snyder, 83, cut in front of motorcycle rider George Hall, 64, as the two were driving near the intersection of Gulf Port Boulevard and Pasadena Avenue.
Hall, who was on his way home, instead followed Snyder into the parking lot of Palms of Pasadena Hospital. Detectives say Hall got off his motorcycle and approached Snyder's vehicle. Once Snyder's car door was open, they say Hall began punching Snyder in the head while Snyder remained seated in the car.
Snyder told detectives that he feared for his life, pulled a handgun from inside his car, and fired at Hall in self-defense.
Hall was hit and suffered a non-life threatening injury. He was treated at Palms of Pasadena and subsequently arrested.
Snyder, meanwhile, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Detectives later learned that he was on his way to Palms of Pasadena Hospital to visit his wife.
