Bicyclist killed in Pinellas Park crash

PINELLAS PARK - Pinellas Park police and Pinellas County deputies are investigating a crash that killed a bicyclist on Belcher Road early this morning.

Officials said the man was riding his bicycle southbound on Belcher at 118th Avenue when he was hit a car just before 5 a.m.

The driver stopped, but a second car hit the bike and didn't stop, investigators said.  They are searching for a red Firebird to question the driver.

The victim died at the scene.  His name has not been released.

Investigators said it's possible charges will be filed against the first driver.

All southbound lanes of Belcher Road were closed until shortly after 8 a.m.
