PALM HARBOR - A shelter in Pinellas County rushed to the rescue of dozens of puppies from Georgia.
The Suncoast Animal League in Palm Harbor got a call from a shelter in Georgetown, where they'd had five straight days of rain. Their kennels were flooding, and they also happened to have a bunch of new puppies come in.
The shelter shipped down 52 puppies, most of which are so young they still have to be bottle-fed.
"Young pups like this have to eat every three or four hours, so it's a lot of work. It's a lot of care. It's a lot of dedication," explained Rick Chaboudy of the Suncoast Animal League. "We're sort of fortunate that it is the holiday season. People are off work so they have a little more time to spend with them right now."
They are still looking for volunteers who have experience
bottle-feeding puppies.
