Two killed in Clearwater motorcycle crash

CLEARWATER - A motorcyclist and his passenger were killed in a crash in Clearwater Thursday night.

Daniel Rivers, 34, was speeding on his 2004 Suzuki on Montclair Road when he failed to negotiate a curve and lost control, police said.

Rivers and his passenger, Starr Knotek, were both ejected, according to a news release.

Knotek, 32, died at the scene.  Rivers was taken to Mease Dunedin Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said in addition to excessive speed, alcohol is being investigated as a contributing factor in the crash.
