Possible shark bite near Clearwater Beach

CLEARWATER BEACH - A man swimming near Pier 60 at Clearwater Beach says he was bitten by a shark.

Dana Joseph said he was about 100 yards out in the water around 7 p.m. when he felt the bite on his right foot.

"I went out in the water a little too deep and a shark grabbed my leg," Joseph said.

Joseph said he saw a shark about five to eight feet long. He said he swam away as fast as he could, and got as many children out of the water as possible.

He had a small wound on his right foot, and initially refused treatment. But he did end up going to the hospital.
