ST. PETERSBURG - St. Petersburg police are looking for two armed robbers who stormed into the Midtown Supermarket on 18th Ave. South Monday morning.
It happened just before 8 a.m.
Surveillance video from inside the store showed the men pointing guns at the clerk as they demanded money.
It's the second time in four months the store has been robbed.
The men kept their faces covered, and police said they don't
have much of a description to go on.
"They both had shirts pulled over their head so there's not
much of a facial description. Sort of an average build otherwise,"
said St. Petersburg Police spokesman Bill Proffitt.
While one man went behind the counter looking for the money, the other robber walked to the back of the store and confronted a beer delivery man who was stocking the cooler.
They took his wallet and his cell phone.
Investigators believe the men are from the area because they walked to the store and left on foot.
Proffitt said they also went right to the money.
"They seemed to know their way around the store. They seemed to know exactly where to go and get around the counter. So they're probably people who've been in the store before," he said.
Right before they left, one of the gunman fired two shots in the
ceiling, but no one was hurt.
