HUDSON - A truck hit an ATV with four children on board early Saturday morning, causing serious injuries
All of the kids are under the age of 16. One teen is in critical condition and three others were seriously hurt.
Police are looking for the driver of the truck, who could face felony hit and run charges for leaving the scene.
The crash happened just before 2 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Denton Avenue and Hicks Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the ATV traveled into the path of the truck and all four passengers were thrown from the vehicle. Investigators identified three of the victims as Jessica Alonso, 12; Mark Cullpepper, 15; and Cierra DeLorey, 13. The fourth victim’s identity hasn’t been released.
’Our heart goes out to the families,’ said Sgt. Larry Kraus with the Florida Highway Patrol. ’We hope that everything works out for the best and that these kids can recover from their injuries.’
Three passengers in the truck were not seriously injured. State troopers are investigating the possibility of drug and alcohol use and why four children were riding an ATV so late at night.
