TAMPA - At 21 years old, Lance Corporal Justin Carman completed two tours in Iraq. He saw 14 Marines in his unit lose their life, but says they made a difference turning Iraq around by training Iraqi forces to take over security.
"We trained them up. We showed them how to clear a room, do patrols, things like that. We would do patrols with them. Just incorporate our tactics into what they're going to need to use.
Carman says he saw less violence this deployment, and says they earned the trust of the Iraqi people. Now the Iraqi police must keep that going.
