TAMPA - A little friendly competition could result in the longest cigar in the world, right in our own backyard.
Wallace Reyes is trying to break the Guinness world record by rolling a cigar that spans nearly a city block -- 180 feet long.
He and his wife are making the cigar in sections and then putting them all together.
Right now, the record-holder lives in Havana, and Reyes says they are friends and always trying to out-do each other.
"We always keep with that type of game, make it longer and longer and longer for the heck of it. This is the cigar capital of the world so we deserve the title this year," he said.
The cigar will be unveiled at the Cigar Heritage Festival on
November 21 at Ybor's Centennial Park.
