TAMPA - A Hillsborough County judge revoked bail for the University of South Florida student police say was involved in a security scare Monday.
Vincent McCoy is charged with filing a false police report of a bomb on state property.
USF police arrested McCoy on a university shuttle bus after they said he stood up and took responsibility for a report that there was an armed man on campus. He said he was joking.
The Tampa police bomb squad detonated his book bag, and didn't find any weapons.
The campus was locked down for several hours, and there was a lot of confusion.
Students received seven text messages from the university including one that stated, "White male subject seen in Cooper Hall area in black tank top, cowboy hat carrying black puppy and large hunting knife".
It's still unclear which information was true.
University administration officials and USF police have scheduled a 1 p.m. meeting to discuss what happened, and whether they could have done a better job communicating with the students.
