PLANT CITY - One crash after another leaves two people day and four people rushed to the hospital. It all started around 9:30 Wednesday night.

Witnesses say a Ford Taurus ran a stop sign at Holloway Road and struck a Ford pickup truck on State Road 39, near Plant City.

Both people in the Taurus were killed and the two in the pickup truck were rushed to Tampa General Hospital.

That’s when troopers say a Ford Explorer came along moments later and hit the Taurus, possibly even hitting one of the victims in the road.

Investigators say the Explorer just kept going, then caused a third accident on McDonald Road, not far away.

“At this point in time we are looking for that driver. That driver fled on foot from the SUV that was traveling southbound,” said Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Larry Krause. “He is possibly related to both traffic crashes at this time.”

Troopers say the suspect is a Hispanic male but they don’t know much more than that. They’re hoping to find out more about the suspect as they search through the Explorer he left behind.

“If it’s registered to that person and we can prove that he’s the driver, absolutely. If it’s someone else’s vehicle and it doesn’t match that description of a Hispanic male, then we’re hoping someone will call and let us know who they are,” said Krause.

An elderly couple was involved in the third accident. They were rushed to Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
