Mother, baby struck in Tampa hit & run

Tampa police are searching for a hit and run driver who struck a mother walking her baby to a day care center this morning.

An SUV hit the victims at Martin Luther King Boulevard and Howard Avenue around 7:30 a.m.

Dana Franklin, 22, and her baby were both taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives have not identified the driver, but are looking for a black SUV missing the driver's side mirror and possibly having a broke driver's side headlight.

Franklin was not walking in a crosswalk, police said.
