TAMPA - Super Bowl fever is in the air, and Tampa is once again making the big pitch, vying to host the Super Bowl in 2014.

Tampa has hosted the big game four times in the past, and now the city is going for number five.

As the Big Easy celebrates its big win, Tampa is getting its game face on. With four Super Bowls under its belt, city leaders say, bring on number five.

"First of all, we are very good at hosting the Super Bowl. I can't think of a city that does a better job," Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio said.

And Tampa wants the job again in 2014. City and business leaders are already working on their bid to the NFL, and they say Tampa has a good shot.

"We're just the perfect city for hosting the super bowl. We're a sports city. We've got a great facility with Raymond James Stadium. The airport is close to hotels and parties and all the things that go on," Iorio said.

"Why wouldn't you want to have the Super bowl here! I mean, look at all the people who came in just a year ago," said Steve Hayes with Tampa Bay & Company.

But hosting football's biggest game isn't cheap. Organizers say last year's Super Bowl cost about $9 million, which included private donations.

They say the pay-off comes with the worldwide spotlight and the crowds.

In 2009, about 100,000 football fans flew in from out of town, spending money in local hotels, restaurants and businesses -- just the kind of cash infusion city leaders want to bring back.

"Not only do you have more people in the community spending money at a much higher volume and rate than you would normally have, but in addition to that its the visibility and the buzz," Hayes said.

And supporters say that buzz is priceless.

"It brings a huge number of people to town. Its a great economic benefit for the city. It gives the city so much exposure worldwide. Everything about the Super Bowl is good," said Dick Beard, the 2009 Super Bowl Task Force Chairman says.

New York, Phoenix and Miami are also expected to bid.

The NFL is expected to make a decision as early as May.
