TAMPA - Flying to some northern destinations today will not be easy. There’s already a long list of delays and cancellations at Tampa International Airport.
A second major storm in less than a week is now blowing towards the mid Atlantic. It has many travelers worried about cancelled flights. Those hopping on a plane this morning are lucky but they’re embracing the cold that’s still to come.
“I’ve got my earmuffs,” said Bill Uberuaga. “So I came prepared.”
Many airlines shut down over the weekend. Now there are warnings of more problems today, which has early birds trying to move quickly.
“The snow flurries are going to start late this afternoon and then by morning it’s going to be really bad and I haven’t driven in snow in about six years so hopefully I’ll be able to do it again,” said Carol Hayes.
Then there are some travelers postponing their flights – saying they’ll enjoy Florida a few more days’ verses shoveling snow up north.
For the latest on delays and cancellations, visit the “Flights” page on Tampa International Airport’s website .
The snow isn’t just affecting air travel. Amtrak announced today that it’s limiting some of its service up north until the weather clears up. Several dozen trips between New York and Washington, D.C. have been cancelled.
Rail lines are already recovering from the first snow storm. Many tracks were covered with downed trees and power lines.
