RIVERVIEW - As parents arrived to pick their kids up from Riverview High School Monday, they were met by a startling sight: deputies guarding a school on a partial lockdown.

"You drive to get your daughter from school and you see all this and they don't tell you anything and you're scared, I'm scared," explained Susan Estrada, a parent at Riverview High School.

The school was placed on modified lock down for most of the day as a precaution. Police say a student's father had been served a domestic violence injunction early Monday morning.

They say after that, 37-year-old Carlos Hernandez went to his wife's workplace, confronted her and made threatening statements about their son.

The boy's grandmother called the school, the school resource officer made sure the teen was okay, and the school was placed on modified lockdown.

. Deputies were posted at all entrances of the school for the remainder of the day. Students said inside all seemed normal. By 1p.m. even they had no clue what was happening outside.

"I didn't even know. They told me on the announcements that 'just don't worry about it, it's not your fault students, but we have the gates locked'," according to Alex Crook, a student at Riverview High.

A short time later, just a few miles from the school, deputies were searching the area. They surrounded a home where neighbors say the man had been spotted, but came out empty handed.

"They went in like gangbusters and storm troopers. It was really efficient and fast. I think all of them were in the house in just a couple of seconds," offered neighbor Duke Fortesque.

Back at school while the hunt for the possibly armed father continued, parents and students were relieved the day there ended uneventfully.
