TAMPA - Former teacher Debra Lafave wants to spend time with children in her family, despite a court order keeping her away from anyone under 18.
Lafave, 29, has been on probation since pleading guilty in 2005 to having sex with a student while she worked as an English teacher at Greco Middle School.
One of the conditions of her probation was status as a sex offender, which meant she was not allowed to have contact with minors. She was even re-arrested back in 2007 for having conversations with an underage coworker.
Monday, Lafave's attorney filed a motion on her behalf, asking a judge to allow her to have supervised contest with a "limited number of the children of family and friends" with parental consent.
John Fitzgibbons' court filing indicates that Lafave has completed a sex offender therapy program.
A hearing has been scheduled for Thursday morning.
