TAMPA - The Jonas Brothers concert at the 1-800-AskGary Amphitheatre was canceled Thursday night due to heavy rain and flooding, leaving many young fans disappointed.
FOX 13's Kristin Wright was at the scene, and said police were escorting people out of the Amphitheatre. She talked with several parents who say they were told the concert was being called off.
Reports indicate the orchestra section of the Amphitheatre was flooded. Demi Lovato, who was scheduled to open the concert, and Nick Jonas posted pictures and video of the flooding on their Twitter pages, showing water filling the lower section of the Amphiteatre:

The Amphitheatre put out this statement:
"Due to flash flooding in the Tampa area resulting in unsafe concert conditions at the venue, tonight's Jonas Brothers concert at 1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheater has been canceled. Refunds will be available at point of purchase starting tomorrow morning."

Many of the parents said there was a lack of communication as they stood in line waiting to get into the venue for quite awhile before being told of what was going on.
"We're parents, we have kids, they have to go to school," said Malinda McKnight Green. "Somebody should tell us something. We've been out here an hour and a half ... it's bedtime."
Another parent told FOX 13 that the water up to the seats of the venue's folding chairs in the front wasn't subsiding.
"These guys are doing everything they could, it's nobody's fault," Drew Martin said.
Some were also disappointed that the Jonas Brothers themselves did not come out on stage to tell the concertgoers what was happening; instead, their father reportedly came out and spoke to the crowd.
The show will not be rescheduled due to the fact that the cancellation was not the fault of the artists scheduled to perform. The Jonas Brothers next show on their tour is scheduled for Thursday in San Antonio, Texas.
This is the first time in the Amphitheatre's history that a show has been canceled.
