TAMPA - Two men were arrested Monday night after police say they posted a stolen kayak for sale online. The victim found the stolen boat while surfing through Craigslist.
Shortly after making the discovery, Eric Wexler called the Tampa Police Department.
Investigators say Michael Dodge and Jason Greene both agreed to sell it to an undercover officer. They asked him to come to an address on Harbor Island to pick it up.
After the transaction was complete, both Dodge and Greene were taken into custody and the kayak was returned to Wexler.
Detectives say two other kayaks were found at the home. Right now they’re trying to figure out if those were also stolen.
Dodge and Greene are facing grand theft and dealing in stolen property charges. Dodge was already on probation for grand theft, so he’s also facing violation of probation charges.
