TAMPA - Hillsborough County deputies arrested a man they say doused his wife with gasoline and tried to set her on fire.
Walter Dunn III, 26, punched and kicked open the front door of a home in the 10700 block of Drummond Road shortly after 10 p.m. Monday, according the sheriff's office.
Detectives said Marco Ramirez, 34, was standing close to his door and glass cut his shoulder and face when Dunn broke in.
Dunn's wife and mother of his two children, Alison Aquino-Sanchez, was also inside the home. Deputies said Dunn grabbed Aquino-Sanchez, 27, by the hair, punched her, dragged her from the home and forced her into a black 2003 Ford Explorer.
Dunn took her back to his home in the 7400 block of Oak Vista Circle, forced her into the garage, poured on her and tried to set her on fire with a lighter, deputies said. When the lighter didn't work, he beat Aquino-Sanchez and tried to cut her fingers with a pair of garden sheers.
When deputies arrived, they ordered him to the ground and Aquino-Sanchez got away. She was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital.
Dunn was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he was treated and released.
Dunn was then booked into the Hillsborough County jail, where he's being held without bond, jail records show. He's charged with two counts of aggravated battery, kidnapping and burglary with battery.
