Deputies post video of red light violators online

TAMPA - It’s been a few months since Hillsborough County officials decided to install red light cameras at several intersections throughout the area.

Those who run red lights have more than a ticket to look out for. They may just see themselves on the sheriff’s new YouTube channel .

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has started posting video of some of the more blatant red light violators online. The video shows some near misses at many busy intersections throughout the county.

Deputies say they’ve started posting the videos as a way to help people realize how dangerous running a red light can be.

“Red light runners are a danger to others as well as themselves,” said HCSO in its description of the newly posted video. “It’s all about safety.”
