Woman struck, killed by train

DOVER - A woman was struck and killed by a train in Hillsborough County Monday afternoon.

It happened around 2 p.m. near the intersection of Martin Luther King Blvd and Gallagher Road.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, two women were walking along the tracks and said they did not hear the train until was right up to them.

One of the women was able to get out of the way, but the train hit the other woman, and she died at the scene.

Investigators and witnesses sat the conductor on the train sounded the horn before the accident.

There is no word yet on the victim's identity.
