MANGO - All lanes of Interstate 4 have re-opened after engineers worked to fix a literal bump in the road.
The lanes were closed Monday afternoon after authorities said pavement in the middle two lanes buckled.
According to Tampa Electric Company, crews with a contractor working for them caused the bump when they moved an underground powerline.
Rush hour traffic, which slowed to a crawl, was backed up for miles.
The lanes were closed near Williams Road, at mile marker 16.5.
Patience wore thin and courtesy went out the window for some drivers pushing through the mess of traffic.
"The signs say the center lane is blocked, so you try to get over and I had my turn signal on for 15 to 20 minutes and no one would let me over," said motorist Teva Faulkenburg.
All lanes were back open by around 3 a.m.
