Free doughnut giveaway on Friday

TAMPA - Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and Dunkin' Donuts are both giving away free doughnuts tomorrow.

It's all part of National Doughnut Day or National Donut Day—depending on which chain you visit.

Participating Krispy Kreme stores across the country and in the Bay Area will give away a free doughnut to all customers. No other purchase is necessary.

Dunkin' Donuts is giving every customer a free donut of their choice with the purchase of any beverage at participating stores.

National Donut Day, held the first Friday of June each year, was started by the Chicago Salvation Army more than 70 years ago as a fundraiser during the Great Depression.
