PLANT CITY - A Hillsborough deputy who was providing escort service for the funeral procession of Sgt. David Croft was hit and injured by a vehicle that cut through the procession line.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says Deputy Daryl Bowden, part of the motor unit, was in the area of Reynolds St. W. and John Martin St. when a pickup truck pulled out of a parking lot and directly into the procession line. Deputies say the driver, Shannon Lima-Jones, 40, then tried to turn left to exit the procession line and turned into the path of Deputy Bowden.

The Sheriff's Office says Deputy Bowden was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Lima-Jones, of Crystal Springs, was charged with failure to yield to a funeral procession and right of way.
