CLEARWATER - A 7-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries when he was ejected from an SUV that crashed into a pick-up truck late Saturday night.
Police say the boy was riding in the back cargo area of a Ford Explorer that ran a red light at the intersection of Cleveland Street and Belcher Road, striking the pick-up truck.
According to officers, the boy was not in a seat and was not wearing a seatbelt. After he was ejected, he was apparently pinned between a light pole and a third vehicle that was hit by the pick-up truck.
Medics airlifted the boy to an area hospital. His name and condition have not been released.
Police have not released any information regarding the drivers involved in the crash or if there were other passengers in either vehicle.
