CLEARWATER - An apartment fire that forced about a dozen families to relocate is being called arson. Investigators say someone intentionally set the Bay Meadows Apartments in Pinellas Park on fire. The smoke could be seen from miles away as sixty firefighters battled the flames.
"You'll never think you'd have to move this quick in your life, but some things definitely get you there," said a resident as he grabs a pile of wet books.
Families packed whats left of their stuff. In all, 20 people were evacuated. Most of them, placed clothes and funiture in front of their apartment building. Twelve units were destroyed. While the damage is disheartening, folks are upset someone intentially set the building on fire.
"It makes me feel very angry. I hope they catch who ever it was. It wasn't necessary. They didn't have to do this," said Cindy Tilley.
The residents have been relocated within the apartment complex. The Pinellas County sheriffs office is investigating the fire.
