TAMPA - Ever caught your dogs in a really funny pose? One that actually looked like they were smiling?
Two Tampa Bay area pet owners did and it landed their canine companions in a new video dedicated to fighting animal cruelty.
Realtor and aspiring songwriter Scott Richard named his new puppies "Teddy Bear Clyde" and "Baby Girl Bonnie." Now 4-months-old, they almost didn't make it. Their pregnant mother was rescued along with another dog from a swampy area behind a Tampa subdivision.
"Somebody had dumped the dogs. There were two female dogs dumped over the fence, one being the mother of Bonnie and Clyde," Richard said.
A few weeks ago, Scott saw our story on FOX 13 about two local dogs that were finalists in the "I'm Tired of ....Animal Cruelty" competition. He remembered a photo he snapped of Bonnie and Clyde and sent it in.
"Clyde was getting stepped on by Bonnie, who's the smaller of the two, and at the same time she was smiling and he was biting her paw," Scott described.
The new video was just released, and among the smiling "stars" are Vanessa Boback's "Buddy" and "Captain," and Scott's "Bonnie" and "Clyde."
Scott says he's thrilled that they were included, especially since they're rescues too.
"This is a great message. Hopefully more people will take care of animals, and not abuse them," he said.
