Teen accidentally shot in head

BRADENTON - A 17-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was accidentally shot in the head.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called to a home on 30th Avenue East around 8 p.m. Friday where a 17-year-old male resident shot his girlfriend by accident as they handled a gun.

Detectives say the girl suffered a wound to the forehead and was transported to Bayfront Medical Center.

Her boyfriend is charged with culpable negligence and improper exhibition of a firearm. Detectives continue to investigate.
