His name is Talladega Tireman, for obvious reasons and he’s become somewhat of a make-shift NASCAR mascot. Tireman has become a staple at the Talladega, Bristol, and Daytona races, showing up each year wearing nothing more than a straw hat and a tire.
An entire chapter of the new book, The Weekend Starts on Wednesday, is dedicated to Tireman. The book talks about the NASCAR culture and gives outsiders a look at what it means to be a racing fan.
